We are thrilled to welcome Michael Card to Saint Patrick as he brings his Christmas Concert, "The Promise". It's sure to be a night to rekindle your wonder at the truth of the Christmas Story. While Card has written over 19 #1 Christian music hits including "El Shaddai", "Love Crucified Arose" and "Emmanuel" he still pursues his original passion which is studying and teaching the Scriptures. From his studies he brings a desire to look at Christmas in a fresh way. He does more than just recount an oft-told, but rarely understood story; he presents the familiar characters in a thought-provoking way-inviting the listener to encounter their timeless truth. "The Promise" is Card's musical interpretation of the sights and sounds of the story of the Christ child as told through those long expecting The Promise. "Understanding the birth of Jesus - whether you get it right or not, has almost everything to do with the way you understand the rest of the Gospel". Card goes on to say,"...you understand that it was a scandal for Jesus to be born the way he was, and that it was costly...second only to the death on the cross." Responding to that scandal Hope is seen in each Nativity character constructed by Card. In "What Her Heart Remembered", the mother of Jesus, Mary, lays wide open the pondering of her heart. A reluctant stepfather, Joseph, reveals his fears beyond that of a first time father but as the human parent of the Son of God in "Joseph's Song". In summing up "The Promise", Card says "The Promises...couldn't have been fulfilled in any other way but by God taking on human flesh, the incarnation, and coming to us in that first Christmas, as scandalous and as unlikely as it was. When God gives a gift, he always wraps it in a person". Card's songs are deeply influenced by his love of Irish music, and he will be joined by local Irish musician, Blayne Chastain. He'll also be joined by the Saint Patrick choir. Purchase Tickets OnlineTickets purchased in advance are $24 for Preferred Seating and $19 for General Seating (See Seating Chart Below).
